Top 3 Ariana Grande Songs on "thank u, next"

Updated: Mar 29, 2020

Anyone who knows me, knows Ariana Grande is my absolute favourite artist. I have been an Ariana Stan (Stan = stalker fan) since I was 16, and every album just keeps getting better. Her most recent album, “thank u, next” is one of the most phenomenal albums released of all time. As much as it pains me to admit, some songs are better than others. And today, I’m doing my ultimate ranking of my top 5 Ariana songs on “thank u, next”.

imagine is a love ballad. In interviews, Ariana describes imagine as “the fantasy” of the relationship. Unfortunately, there is no music video, because there are rumors it was written about her relationship with her late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, but the audio alone does the trick. Her voice hits notes you didn’t even exist, and makes you fantasize about the relationship you never even had. Absolute #1.

THIS SONG is an absolute bop! A female anthem, if you will. This song emphasizes the importance of not hating your ex, loving your best friends and loving yourself. The lyrics scream female-empowerment, the music video pays homage to iconic girly-girl movies, and it is so catchy.

WARNING this is one of the saddest songs you will ever hear. ghostin is about Mac Miller passing away while Ariana was engaged to Pete Davidson. For similar reasons to imagine, there is no music video for ghostin, but most of the time, when I listen to this song, I am lying down on the floor with my eyes closed. My heart breaks for you Ari.

So these are my top three. This was debatably the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, but I did it. I am so curious to know all of your thoughts! You can listen to the album on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music.

EDIT: Bored in quarantine?! I know I am. Stream "thank u, next" while doing fun quarantine activities. Check out my blog on how to pass the time here: Quarantine, but make it fashion
