It’s no doubt that technology has revolutionized the fashion industry – social media exposure alone has skyrocketed brands to fame and globally recognized brands can succeed from just an online store.
With that said, so many amazing local stores get lost in the mix. Online shopping is very convenient, and it’s where I get a lot of inspiration from, but I find I always get the best fitting clothes when I buy in person.
I’ve been working in retail since I was 15 years old, and I have in a variety of environments: international chains, provincial chains, and a boutique, where I work now. As a shopper - and as an employee! – I think the best experience is in small-scale stores where the employees really care about their client base.
I wanted to shine some light on local shops in Toronto that have amazing, unique stuff. Check them out!

This is actually where I work! Managed by just my boss and I, Bella has handpicked, beautiful items with amazing quality. With only one location, Bella has finds you won’t get anywhere else. You can also shop online at the website listed above.
· Honey

Almost half my wardrobe is Honey! Honey is the perfect combination of girly and sophisticated. With 10 locations across the GTA, Honey is local but very accessible.
· Thursdays

o Age demographic: 15 - 50
Thursdays is sophisticated but with a little edge. With two locations (one in downtown Toronto and one in Rosedale), Thursdays has a great combination of basics and statement pieces, and is a must-see in Toronto!
Since most of Toronto is shut down right now, a lot of small businesses are suffering. At some point, life will start back up again, and supporting local businesses goes a long way.
